French President Emmanuel Macron refused the resignation of Interior Minister Laurent Nunez, despite criticizing security “failures” after the weekend protests, which ended with nearly 2,400 people arrested and almost 1,000 police officers and gendarmes injured, according to the Interior Ministry.
Florian Philippot, leader of the French Patriots party and a presidential candidate, called on Macron to resign amid the protests.
