The United Kingdom Supreme Court began hearing the appeal on Wednesday from Palestine Action co-founder Huda Ammori against the government’s designation of the group as a terrorist organization.
The hearing is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday. Permission to appeal was granted only on the argument that the proscription is compatible with Articles 10 and 11 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR); the argument on the interpretation and application of the Home Secretary’s policy was refused. The proscription was announced to Parliament on June 23, 2025, and came into effect on July 5, 2025, under the Terrorism Act 2000. More than 300 supporters of the group were arrested by London police on Saturday for displaying placards bearing the now-prohibited slogan. The defense argues that only three of the 385 actions undertaken by the group over five years were assessed as meeting the definition of terrorism.
