All beaches and coastal areas in Umm Al Quwain, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), have been temporarily closed after an oil spill from a tanker, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment confirmed.

The ministry said its monitoring system detected the spill, after residents in Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain reported unpleasant odours.
