Canada and Türkiye upgraded relations to a strategic partnership during the first bilateral visit by a Canadian prime minister, according to The Jerusalem Post, with Mark Carney seeking new trade partners to reduce reliance on the US.
The two sides expect to raise bilateral trade from 3 billion dollars first to 5 billion and then to 10 billion. Carney and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan launched the first round of negotiations for a free trade agreement and signed the expanded air transport agreement between the two countries, according to the Canadian prime minister’s office.
