An Egyptian court convicted Mada Masr editor-in-chief Lina Attalah on Tuesday of running a website without a licence and ordered the independent outlet closed, according to Middle East Eye.

Attalah was taken into custody after the verdict pending bail, Reuters reported in a text republished by KFGO.
