The Shin Bet, Israel’s internal security service, is investigating suspicions that a current Joint List member of Knesset received thousands of shekels from Qatar, money that was then reportedly used by the party during the election campaign, according to the Jerusalem Post.
At this stage, investigators say they have no evidence of what the money was actually used for and that it is unclear what evidence suggests the funds originated from Qatar. Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed al-Ansari wrote on X: “We categorically deny allegations that Qatar has interfered in Israeli elections or funded any activities intended to influence their outcome.”
