Hundreds of Israelis took to the streets in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem on Saturday to urge the opposition to ally with Arab parties and oust Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP), in a report published by Arab News.

The Tel Aviv rally drew around 500 people and the Jerusalem one around 100. Jewish-majority parties opposed to Netanyahu won 48 seats, while the two Arab-majority parties, Raam and the Joint List, secured a combined 19, in an election that left neither bloc with a majority in the 120-seat parliament; an alliance between the two camps would give the anti-Netanyahu bloc 67 seats. Opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot has not decided whether to seek the coalition and reiterated that he would only form a Zionist government whose members commit to recognizing Israel as a Jewish, democratic and liberal state and to recognizing Hamas as a terrorist organization.
