The Chinese Embassy in Papua New Guinea said that an object intercepted at a Port Moresby facility and reported as a suspected military artillery shell was in fact a shell-shaped wine bottle, citing information from the company involved and an on-site verification.
The embassy said that smuggling an illegal military-grade artillery shell from China to Papua New Guinea was virtually impossible given China’s firearm control laws. China rejects the claim and says the object poses no danger, according to the South China Morning Post.
