Pakistan’s federal government imposed temporary federal rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, after an emergency cabinet meeting, citing the “provincial government’s deliberate disengagement from the fight against terrorism”, according to the South China Morning Post.
The provincial administration, led by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, had refused to support intensified military operations against Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants.
