The order to limit Starlink, the satellite system Ukraine uses for battlefield communications and drone operations, came from inside the White House, according to two US officials and one Western official cited by Reuters, in a text republished by G1.

A person at Ukraine’s defense ministry said on Thursday that the receivers resumed working while moving, but only at speeds of up to 160 km/h. The Guardian reported that the change to Starlink happened without warning at about 1 a.m., when Ukrainian soldiers reported that terminals on drones stopped working at speeds above 100 mph, rendering communications inoperable. The British defense minister acknowledged “the challenges of recent days,” a reference to the US government’s sudden decision on Monday to limit Ukraine’s military use of Starlink.
