Israel’s Shin Bet and police arrested senior Balad activist and journalist Abed Abu Shehadeh in Jaffa on Wednesday over suspected security violations — an arrest Balad chairman Sami Abu Shehadeh called a “grave crime,” accusing Netanyahu of trying to hijack the election result.
Around 15 security personnel, some masked, stormed the house at midnight and arrested him in front of his two children, seizing electronic devices and books, in a case under the Tel Aviv Central Unit and the Shin Bet with a court publication ban as a security-related investigation; the Central Elections Committee certified the result on Wednesday with no evidence of irregularities undermining the election’s integrity.
