United Russia, the party of President Vladimir Putin, won 355 of the 450 seats in the State Duma, Russia’s lower house of parliament, according to preliminary results with more than 95% of ballots counted, announced on Monday, September 21, by Central Election Commission (CEC) chair Ella Pamfilova.

The tally includes single-mandate districts, exceeds the party’s previous record of 343 seats in 2016 and preserves its constitutional majority of 301 seats, enough to amend the constitution without support from other parties, according to Reuters. The Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF) came second with 40 seats, the ultranationalist Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) took 25 and New People 20. Voting ran from September 18 to 20 and was the first Duma election since Russia launched its full-scale war against Ukraine; on the final day, Russia’s Defence Ministry said it downed 1,110 Ukrainian drones across 19 Russian regions and Crimea. The anti-war Yabloko party won no federal seats but cleared the 5% threshold in the Novgorod regional parliament, Reuters reported.
