Israel’s official government mapping site, govmap, published 2025 aerial imagery of the northern Gaza Strip without the blurring it used to apply there, revealing at least 11 Israeli military positions inside the buffer zone and massive destruction to Palestinian towns in the area, The Times of Israel reported.

The change, first spotted on Monday, 21 September 2026, by an open-source intelligence (OSINT) account, has no official explanation: the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it was looking into the imagery.
