A U.S. appeals court in Washington upheld the Pentagon’s blacklisting of Anthropic on Friday, 25 September 2026, keeping the Department of Defense’s finding that the artificial intelligence (AI) company poses a national security risk, CNBC reports.

In a 2-1 ruling, the court rejected Anthropic’s challenge and found the Department of Defense had ample support for treating the use of Claude as a threat, The Hill reports.
