US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that “all the Iranian airlines will be shut down around the world” on September 23, under the threat of secondary sanctions on anyone providing them services: “If they land, you cannot provide them with fuel, you cannot provide them with landing services, you cannot sell them tickets or you will be knocked out of the dollar system,” he told CNBC.

Bessent also said China has been “very engaged” in the economic pressure campaign against Iran, a day after meeting Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng in New York, according to Reuters and The Hindu.
