Poverty in Argentina rose to 32.3% in the first half of 2026, up from 28.2% in the previous half, according to official data from the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC), as incomes failed to keep pace with the cost of basic goods.

Extreme poverty rose from 6.3% to 7.5%, with some 9.7 million people in the surveyed urban areas living below the poverty line.
