Israeli forces raided the town of Biddu, northwest of Jerusalem in the occupied West Bank, before dawn on Monday and detained at least 53 Palestinians, according to Al Jazeera.

The Jerusalem Governorate told Agence France-Presse (AFP) that the operation targeted “dozens of young men” and that homes had been turned into interrogation centres; Biddu’s mayor, Nazmi Mansour, said dozens of military jeeps and hundreds of soldiers stormed the town. It is the third incursion into Biddu since a resident suspected of shooting dead an Israeli settler on Sunday was arrested; the Israeli military told AFP it was checking the reports.
