The head of the United Nations (UN) refugee agency warned on Friday, 25 September 2026, that conditions for long-displaced people in Western Sahara are getting worse and their humanitarian needs remain starkly underfunded, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP), in a dispatch carried by RFI.

Displacement in the territory has lasted more than half a century, with generations of Sahrawi refugees growing up in Tindouf and in nearby camps, according to AFP.
