A suicide bombing at a roadside police checkpoint in Dera Ismail Khan, in northwestern Pakistan, killed at least 11 people, according to police and rescue officials.

At least seven security personnel were among the dead and 20 others were wounded in Saturday’s attack, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police told Al Jazeera. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the Pakistan Taliban, claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement. Local emergency services counted 30 wounded, a figure reported by Reuters.
