Călin Georgescu, a former Romanian presidential candidate, was taken in for questioning on Monday by the Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT), which carried out five searches in a probe into an organised criminal group and a fraud of more than €1.1 million, according to DIICOT, the Kyiv Post and HotNews.

DIICOT has not announced a formal arrest, and Georgescu is already a defendant in another case over an alleged attempt to undermine the constitutional order.
