Tunisian authorities have arrested at least 11 people who took part in a protest in Tunis on Saturday demanding the release of four pro-Palestinian activists held since March, according to lawyer Ghassen Besbes, who represents some of the detainees, and the group Maghreb Sumud, which says 13 were arrested.

No official figure has been released and the exact number remains unclear. Lawyer Fedy Snene said a judge extended the protesters’ detention by 48 hours and that they were questioned about slogans chanted at the demonstration. The four activists, held since March, are accused of money laundering over fundraising for the Global Sumud Flotilla, which tried to deliver aid to Gaza in 2025 and was intercepted by Israel; one of them, Wael Naouar, has been on hunger strike since August 16, according to Al Jazeera.
