Fighting has erupted again in Tigray, in northern Ethiopia, between regional forces and the national army.

Tigrayan forces seized control of the airports in Mekelle, Axum and Shire, according to the United Nations, in a Reuters report republished by CNBC Africa. The African Union (AU) called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and a return to direct talks.
