James Copenhaver, one of the men wounded in the 2024 assassination attempt against then-candidate Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, died on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, at age 76, according to the Allegheny County Office of the Medical Examiner, which did not release the cause.

His family confirmed the death through a lawyer. Copenhaver was in the bleachers when the gunman opened fire; Trump was wounded in the ear and Corey Comperatore was killed in the attack.
