Police in Lahore arrested all three sisters of former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan on Monday — Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi — for 30 days under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) law, according to The Hindu, citing AFP, and ETV Bharat, citing the Indian news agency Press Trust of India (PTI).

Lahore’s deputy commissioner issued two separate detention orders on Sunday, and the three were taken to Kot Lakhpat jail. The arrests come ahead of a nationwide march by Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party on September 27 demanding his release. Khan’s party called the detentions a “blatant abuse of authority”.
