A senior State Department official said the United States wants to become a huge source of India’s energy needs and cited the U.S. operation in Venezuela as a factor opening that market to countries like India, according to The Hindu.

The official spoke after Donald Trump signed into law, last week, the act authorizing him to impose tariffs of up to 100% on countries buying Russian oil and gas, including China and India.
