The number of people missing since the start of the conflict in Ukraine has reached 275,000, according to the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, in an interview with the Russian newspaper Vedomosti published on Tuesday, 22 September 2026 and cited by TASS.

She said the ICRC records an average of 10,000 new search requests a month and has been increasing the number of answers given to families. The figure comes from the ICRC itself, the organisation that mediates cases between the parties, and is not a government estimate.
