President Donald Trump’s approval rating fell to 32 percent, the lowest of his political career, according to a four-day Reuters/Ipsos poll that closed on Sunday.

The drop comes from Republican voters souring on the cost of living amid the war with Iran: 73 percent of Republicans approve of his job performance, down from 82 percent a week earlier, and only 17 percent approve of his handling of the cost of living. For the first time, Republicans who disapprove of his handling of that issue outnumber those who approve, 51 percent to 44 percent. The poll gathered 1,277 US adults and has a margin of error of 3 percentage points. Reuters attributes the deterioration to sharply higher gasoline and diesel prices since the war against Iran began in February; US congressional elections are set for 3 November.
