Bangladesh and the United States signed a memorandum of understanding on strategic civil nuclear cooperation, to deepen cooperation on the peaceful use of nuclear energy.

The document was signed in New York on Friday, September 25, 2026, by Rehan Asad, adviser for science and technology to Bangladesh’s prime minister, and Jacob Helberg, U.S. Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy and the Environment, according to The Hindu. The memorandum records the shared position that all civil nuclear cooperation should follow the highest standards of nuclear safety, security, safeguards and non-proliferation.
