Typhoon Dujuan killed four people and left six others missing in eastern Japan, in the prefectures of Chiba and Kanagawa, and injured 22, according to the Fire and Disaster Management Agency (FDMA) of Japan, cited by The Japan Times and Jiji Press.

Chiba recorded three of the deaths. The typhoon, Japan’s 25th this year, cut power to tens of thousands of homes and forced more than 1.6 million people in the Tokyo area to leave at-risk areas, BBC News reported. The storm also brought record rainfall: Oshima island recorded 832 millimetres over 48 hours, more than double its average rainfall for the whole of September, according to Japanese public broadcaster NHK. Japan’s meteorological agency lifted or downgraded most heavy rain and landslide warnings on Tuesday.
