India and the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) closed the seventh high-level meeting of the OPEC-India Energy Dialogue in New Delhi on Tuesday, 22 September 2026, with a pledge to deepen cooperation on market stability and investment, and set the next round for Vienna, according to a statement from India’s Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas cited by Business Standard and News18.

The meeting was co-chaired by Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al Ghais. Puri said India will remain an “important driver of global energy demand in the decades ahead” and called for sustained dialogue between producers and consumers; Al Ghais said that “many of India’s energy priorities are OPEC’s priorities”. The dialogue was launched in New Delhi in 2015 and the eighth meeting will be held at the organisation’s headquarters in Vienna, with no date yet confirmed. The meeting took place with Brent crude above US$ 100 a barrel, after the conflict disrupted supplies for major consumers including India and China, according to Business Standard.
