A Vermont jury on Monday convicted Jason Eaton, 51, of attempted murder in the shooting of three Palestinian college students in Burlington in November 2023.

The jury rejected the defense’s insanity claim, which held that Eaton acted on orders he attributed to the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and to Israel’s foreign intelligence service, Mossad, transmitted over FM radio. Hisham Awartani was left paralyzed from the waist down, and Tahseen Aliahmad and Kinnan Abdalhamid were wounded. Eaton faces up to life in prison.
