Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Tuesday, 22 September 2026, that European countries hosting US military bases or helping to prepare or execute US attacks could be “complicit in aggression”.

He made the remark to his Italian counterpart, Antonio Tajani, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, according to Middle East Eye, which cites an Iranian statement. Araghchi said rising fuel and commodity prices in global markets are a direct result of the US-Israeli war on Iran and warned of “the dangerous consequences that the normalisation of law-breaking and aggressive US unilateralism poses to the rule of law”.
